From Pavement to Prosperity is a program dedicated to the welfare and dignity of disadvantaged communities and vulnerable youth in Kenya.
OUR OBJECTIVE is to bring about equality and opportunities for the vulnerable street youth so that are able to thrive and have a dignified life. The inspiration for the program came after visiting the boys living on the streets of Nairobi. They were found living completely unsupervised, suffering from malnutrition and exposed to all forms of physical and mental abuse. Most had turned to substance abuse to escape the horror that was in their lives. We aim is to either reunite them back with their families or offer them a home that meets all their basics needs. We offer them a brighter future, to give them a chance of becoming the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
Firstly, we IDENTIFY where groups of children have chosen as their ‘base’. We then spend quality time and build RELATIONSHIP with them. They are frequently beaten and abused on the streets. It can take weeks or even months to gain their trust. Next we develop an ACTION PLAN for each individual child according to the research on their background. We work closely with the district children’s officer.
Finally, we either SUPPORT the parent or guardian so they can provide the needs of the child, RECRUIT the child to our program after providing intense rehabilitation, or REFFER them to a suitable external rehabilitation clinic.
